I love GG4 on rainy days or long weekends when I can spend the day relaxing and enjoying some down time. The difference is GG4 does eventually make me sleepy while Citral Glue never does. GG4 hits me a lot like Citral Glue in that I feel extremely relaxed but can still focus. I can smoke it all day without needing to take a nap, but will squeeze a nap in if I can find an excuse to take one. If you’re breaking it up with your fingers expect them to get all kinds of sticky icky! Expect a pungent aroma of earth, pine, and even hints of chocolate and diesel with the flavor leaning more on the earthy side with a tinge of diesel. GG4 tends to produce thick, chunky buds that are covered in trichomes and range from light to dark green. Due to all of the issues over who owns the phrase “Gorilla Glue” you can walk into a dispensary and see GG4 and Original Glue on the shelf at the same time depending on who the grower is. After the lawsuit we are left with the current GG4 name, although most still refer to the strain as Gorilla Glue. When GG Strains first developed GG4 they were just calling it “4” until one of the trimmers mentioned his fingers were stuck together like Gorilla Glue, and the name stuck. I was lucky enough to buy some before the name issues arose, but even with a new moniker this strain remains in my Top Ten.

Ultimately the adhesive company won which is where the names GG1, GG4, and GG5 come from though these strains are also known as New Glue, Original Glue, and Sister Glue. You may find several different numbers when it comes to the different gorilla glue strains, and it all comes down to Gorilla Glue, the glue manufacturer, suing GG Strains for use of the Gorilla Glue name in 2017. This happy accident resulted in one of my favorite strains! I’ve tried several GG4 harvests over the years and love that this strain gets me as high as a hot-air-baboon! Gorilla Glue #4 is derived from Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel and was created by GG Strains completely accidentally when pollination occurred between plants that weren’t supposed to interact. This hybrid strain is quite the relaxer and can have you yawning after smoking enough of it, but won’t immediately glue you to anything like the name suggests. We bought a quarter and spent a lot of the week smoking and checking out the Seattle area seeing if I felt like moving that way. Gorilla Glue was the first legal cannabis purchase I made in the United States in Washington back in 2016. I bet you’re wondering what we are go(rilla)-ing to talk about this week!
